CEREC® Crowns —Dental Crowns in Singapore

Unlike normal fillings, CEREC® inlays are indirect restorations made physically outside the mouth and later cemented onto the tooth. Inlays do not weaken the tooth structure, but strengthens it and resists tooth fracture. Dental inlays are available to fill cavities with material that matches your tooth colour. With an inlay, the tooth can bear greater chewing force than a tooth restored by traditional filling.

If the area of tooth affected by decay is too large, a dental crown may be needed to restore the tooth. A dental crown is a restoration that completely encircles (caps) a tooth and is cemented in place. It further helps to prevent tooth decay and offers resistance to tooth fractures or cracks.

As compared to conventional inlays and crowns, CEREC® crowns and inlays are designed after a 3D scan intraorally, and milled by a machine in the clinic immediately thereafter. This help eliminate the need to take impressions in the mouth, and patients can get their restorations fitted on the same day.

The computer-aided design process ensures as precise a fit as is possible, and patients report the digital fitting process is much more comfortable than a traditional impression fitting. Ceramic is also a much more natural-looking material for a crown or inlay compared to traditional amalgam or gold.
